Implementing the Charity Governance Code

This event is now fully booked. Add your name to the waiting list.

Tuesday 3 December 2019. 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Registration from 5:00pm.

An increasing number of charities have committed to continuously improving their governance by following the good practice set out in the Charity Governance Code.  If you are implementing the code or intend to do so, join us to gain insights into the impact the Code is having and to share learning about implementing it. Association of Chairs is partnering with RSM and Thomson Snell & Passmore to explore how charities are implementing the code and what Chairs can do to make progress against the 7 principles of good governance.

RSM will share key findings from its recent research on how charities are applying the Code and where the common issues arise.

Law firm Thomson Snell & Passmore will focus in on three principles that often cause implementation challenges: openness & accountability; integrity; and diversity.  They will share real life examples of issues charities have faced, as well as key questions Chairs can ask their Boards to assess their performance against the Code.

Launched in 2017, the Code sets out recommended practice for good governance and provides an important reference point for charities to follow to keep themselves well-managed and future proofed.   By complying with governance standards, you can help build trust in your charity with your supporters, funders and the general public.

Thomson Snell & Passmore are offering a free 1 hour follow up charity governance audit to attendees.  This is an opportunity for charities to meet with experienced charity lawyers to work through a health check tool to assess risks and opportunities for their Boards of trustees.
