Being an Effective Chair

This event is now fully booked. Add your name to the waiting list.

Tuesday 29 May 2018. 9:15 am - 2:00 pm London

Are you Chair of a small charity? Are you looking to be more effective in your role?

We know that the role of Chair although rewarding can be lonely. In a small organisation, there is often little resource to support the Chair and limited time to reflect on the nature of the role.

This workshop aims to provide you with practical guidance and tools to help you be more effective in your role. The workshop has been developed with the complexities of chairing a smaller organisation (with an annual income of under 1 million) in mind; such as operating with limited resources and individuals often having both operational and governance roles. You will have the opportunity to share learning with Chairs of other smaller organisations.

This is a free pilot workshop being run as part of the Association of Chairs’ Beacon Programme. In return we ask for your feedback as part of this workshop.

Outcomes

By the end of this workshop, you will:

  • Be clear about your role and legal responsibilities
  • Understand what can help you be effective
  • Have practical tools to help you run effective meetings
  • Have gained insight and top tips from other Chairs of smaller organisations

Spaces will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

This free pilot workshop is open to AoC members and non-members. The Beacon Programme is aimed at Chairs and Vice Chairs of charities in England with an annual income of under £1 million. Thanks to the Big Lottery Fund we will be running these workshops in 9 locations in England from autumn 2018 until spring 2020. We will be launching the full programme soon.
