Hear from Nick Hobden, Partner at Thomson Snell & Passmore LLP.

Our Expert Insight Sessions will give you the opportunity to hear from an expert, ask questions and discuss with fellow Chairs and Vice Chairs.

This session will be led by Nick Hobden, Partner at Thomson Snell & Passmore LLP. Nick is experienced in handling all aspects of employment law, but particularly advising charities on complex, highly confidential, sensitive and difficult issues ranging from governance to internal processes. He has previously delivered a briefing with RSM for Association of Chairs members on pitfalls in compliance with the charity governance code.

In this session, Nick will look at what Chairs and Vice-Chairs need to know about the law on health and safety, Government guidance such as on PPE. Understanding practical issues from an employment law perspective as to the duties on employers to assess risk, set up a safe system of work and implement it. He will also discuss the rights and obligations of both employees and employers examining such issues as the impact of use of public transport, social distancing, consultation, risk mitigation and refusing to work.

The session will be held over the online platform, Zoom, enabling you to see the expert and others joining the session face to face. Never used Zoom before? Do not worry! Following sign up we will send you a link to join the video call and instructions on how to use Zoom (e.g. how to check your sound and video are working).

The session will begin with the expert giving a short presentation on a particular topic. There will then be opportunity for you to ask questions, share your own learning and experiences and to hear from others.
