We are pleased to announce that aspects of the Beacon Programme will be continuing until 30 September 2020, allowing us to extend our support for Chairs of smaller charities in these challenging times. This has been made possible thanks to additional funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.

The extra funding will allow us to support smaller charity Chairs and Vice Chairs through the coronavirus pandemic. This will include free access for Beacon participants to webinars and online peer and expert surgeries. The popular Beacon Resource Bank will also remain open until the end of September.

The Beacon Programme was due to end on 30 June 2020, after three very successful years. In that time, we have supported 1377 small charity Chairs via the programme. In our recent survey, 80% of participants said they felt more confident in their chairing role as a result of taking part in the Beacon Programme.

During the coronavirus pandemic, we have been keen to support Chairs as much as possible. We have been running a weekly coronavirus online peer surgery and online sessions on topics including managing finances, insolvency and supporting your CEO during the crisis. We have also created guidance on chairing remote meetings and a coronavirus resource page, with the latest guidance and sources of support.

The Beacon Programme is free to join for Chairs and Vice Chairs of smaller charities and non-profit organisations in England, with an annual income of under £1 million. Registration will remain open until 30 September 2020.
