Social media: how Chairs can capitalise on opportunities and manage risks

Wednesday 20 January 2016. 8:30 am - 10:30 am

From #icebucketchallenge to #GivingTuesday, everyone across the charity sector seems to be talking about how social media can help them fundraise, scale up communications and manage reputation. What are the opportunities and risks and what do Chairs need to know and take action on?

In this workshop we’ll focus on the key trends that charity boards, and their Chairs, need to be aware of; advice on the governance and policy issues triggered by social media and some practical, interactive exercises. Our goal is that you will leave feeling more confident about social media and what you need to be aware of to lead your board effectively in this area.

Speakers will include Zoe Amar, Director of Zoe Amar Communications, one of the sector’s leading social media experts and columnist for The Guardian Voluntary Sector Network; and Louise Hughes, Not for Profit Marketing Lead at Grant Thornton UK LLP which recently carried out a study into social media use in the charity sector.

This event will be of interest to Chairs of both large and small charities, and those who are beginners in social media as well as those with experience.

There will be some networking time before and after this event.
Priority booking for members. We will admit non-members only if space is available.
Please register your interest, places will be confirmed nearer the time.
