Wednesday 17 February 2016. 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

We are delighted to have as our guest speaker Julia Unwin, who has a reputation for her insightful work on governance. She has argued that the key things that boards need to do all start with S: support, stretch, stewardship, scrutiny, and strategy.

Reflecting on governance in tough times Julia will draw on her experience of governance, both as an executive and as a board member in public, private and charitable settings. She will consider what particular challenges governing bodies face in these changing times.

Julia Unwin is Chief Executive of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust and is known for her extensive research and writing on the role, governance and funding of the voluntary sector. She was a member of the Housing Corporation Board for 10 years and a Charity Commissioner from 1998-2003. Julia was also Deputy Chair of the Food Standards Agency and worked as an independent consultant operating within government and the voluntary and corporate sectors.

This event is the first of a series being organised by our Yorkshire network in 2016. Come and meet other Chairs and consider how you could apply Julia Unwin’s insights to steer and support your organisation.
