Developing an Effective Board Team

Thursday 28 November 2019. 1:00 pm - 4:45 pm

***To mark the final Beacon workshop in Newcastle, we are offering this event free of charge***

Do your trustees work well together? Are you able to deal with conflict effectively?

As Chair, your role includes enabling your board to work well together and supporting your trustees to resolve any conflict.  This might mean having difficult conversations with one or more of your trustees to confront problematic behaviours.

This workshop aims to provide you with practical guidance and tools to help you develop the board as a team and give you the confidence to deal with any conflict at an early stage.  This workshop has been developed with the complexities of chairing a smaller organisation in mind (with an annual income of under £1 million); such as working with a smaller number of trustees and individuals often having both operational and governance roles.  You will have the opportunity to share learning and sources of support with Chairs of other smaller organisations.

Outcomes

By the end of this workshop you will be able to:

  • Enable your board to work well together
  • Manage conflict and support difficult conversations
  • Gain insights and top tips from other Chairs of smaller organisations

If you are also interested in learning how to recruit and work one-to-one with trustees and senior staff, we recommend that you book onto one of our upcoming ‘Managing Relationships and Board Dynamics: recruiting and working one-to-one with trustees and senior staff’ workshops or webinars.
