This event is now fully booked. Add your name to the waiting list.

Tuesday 20 June 2017. 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm London

Registration from 4pm to start at 4.30pm

Legal compliance is one of the Board’s key roles. It needs to assure itself that the charity is operating within the law. But compliance is not enough for good governance.

The Board has a key role to play in setting the long term-direction and values of the charity; in ensuring it has the people and resources to achieve its mission and is fit for the future. It needs to understand the risks that could seriously jeopardise the charity’s success and the opportunities that could transform it. Most crucially it needs to address the key issues facing the charity and make well-founded decisions.
This interactive session will help you explore how you can enable your board to undertake its governance task effectively.

We will cover:
• Focus- how to help your board focus on the issues that really matter
• Relationships-helping the board operate as a team, and work effectively with staff
• Decision-making and delegation

This session will explore further the ideas set out in A Chair’s Compass and will also look at the principles in the latest version of Good Governance- a code for the voluntary and community sector – available here.

There are a limited number of places and this event is for AoC members and invited guests only. We aim to ensure a mix of members have the opportunity to attend these small events, for this reason we do not operate a first come first served approach. Your place is confirmed only if you receive a second email confirming your place.
