Are you Chair of a smaller charity? Are you looking to be more effective in your role?
We know that the role of Chair although rewarding can be lonely. In a smaller organisation, there is often little resource to support the Chair and limited time to reflect on the nature of the role.
This first workshop in our Beacon Programme, aims to provide you with practical guidance and tools to help you be more effective in your role. The workshop has been developed with the complexities of chairing a smaller organisation (with an annual income of under 1 million) in mind; such as operating with limited resources and individuals often having both operational and governance roles. You will have the opportunity to share learning with Chairs of other smaller organisations.
This workshop is being run in partnership with the Association of Independent Museums. Some places are reserved for Chairs and Vice Chairs of heritage charities, who will have opportunity to work together and share insights with Chairs and Vice Chairs from the broader charity sector.
Feedback from participant:
‘Really helpful overall, good to give myself the time to think about the issue of being Chair whilst away from the charity. The workshop has given me a number of actions to take forward to develop myself as Chair. ’
Rachel Lovering, Chair, Adhisthana
By the end of this workshop, you will:
- Be clear about your role and legal responsibilities
- Understand what can help you be effective
- Have practical tools to help you run effective meetings
- Have gained insight and top tips from other Chairs of smaller organisations
Registration from 11am to 11.15am. Lunch will be provided.
