Becky Hill, Chair of Back Up, and Third Sector Charity Chair of the Year, in conversation

Thursday 5 March 2015. 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us for drinks, networking and a chance to hear about Becky’s role as Chair of Back Up and the skills and achievements that led her to be recognised in last September’s Third Sector awards. Becky will be interviewed by Association Vice Chair John Williams, who was on the judging panel that chose Becky as Charity Chair of the Year.

Drinks, canapés and an amazing view will be very kindly provided by Barclays’ Charities team at the top of their Canary Wharf Headquarters, from 5.30pm for a 6.00pm start with plenty of time after for networking.

Becky became a trustee of Back Up in 2001 and Chair (a second time) in 2013.

Back Up is a charity supporting people with a spinal cord injury – its philosophy is that while a spinal cord injury can be devastating, they believe it shouldn’t prevent anyone getting the most out of life. Services include mentoring, wheelchair skills training and residential courses as well as support in getting back to work or school after an injury.

Becky has a background in HR and industrial relations, including a senior role at BT, which combined with a passion for independent living and the employment of people with disabilities, have helped contribute to the charity’s strategic development.

She was a teenager when she sustained a C5/6 spinal injury over 20 years ago and so has been particularly excited to champion the expansion of Back Up’s youth programme.
