Wednesday 27 May 2020. 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Hear from Carole Easton, Chair of the Finance Committee at Advance and previous CEO at Young Women’s Trust and Childline.

Our Expert Insight Sessions will give you the opportunity to hear from an expert, ask questions and discuss with fellow Chairs and Vice Chairs.

Carole Easton will lead this expert insight session. Carole has had many Trustee roles, is currently Chair of the Finance Committee at Advance and was Chair at Young Minds. She is also a highly experienced Chief Executive, so brings a range of perspectives to the role. She was CEO at Young Women’s Trust, and previously at CLIC Sargent, ChildLine and Cruse Bereavement Care.  She is currently working as an interim CEO and independent consultant.

Carole will be exploring how in these exceptional times can Chairs best support Chief Executives?  What are ways in which Chairs can be most helpful and how best can they draw on Trustees to assist with supporting the Chief Executive and the broader team?  What suggestions can the Chair give Trustees about how to be helpful and avoid being unhelpful? What processes and roles might be useful for the Chair to recommend to Trustees to put in place to allow the Chief Executive to focus on current priorities?

The session will introduce practical advice on how to chair formal governance meetings using Zoom and similar video conferencing platforms.  Participants will have the opportunity to discuss good practice and share experiences of effective (and less effective) virtual meetings.

The session will be held over the online platform, Zoom, enabling you to see the expert and others joining the session face to face. Never used Zoom before? Do not worry! Following sign up we will send you a link to join the video call and instructions on how to use Zoom (e.g. how to check your sound and video are working).

The session will begin with the expert giving a short presentation on a particular topic. There will then be opportunity for you to ask questions, share your own learning and experiences and to hear from others.
