Wednesday 11 March 2020. 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Expert Insight Session

Hear from Beryl Hobson, CEO of PGS and ex- Head of the Large Charities Division at the Charity Commission.

Our NEW Expert Insight Sessions will give you the opportunity to hear from an expert, ask questions and discuss with fellow Chairs and Vice Chairs.

This session will be led by Beryl Hobson, CEO of PGS and ex- Head of the Large Charities Division at the Charity Commission. She will discuss appraising your Chief Executive. The Charity Governance Code states that ‘’In the case of the most senior member of staff (e.g. CEO) the board makes sure that there are proper arrangements for their appointment, supervision, Support, appraisal, remuneration and, if necessary, dismissal’’. Beryl will explore the role of the Chair in setting CEO objectives, monitoring and appraising the CEO and addressing performance issues.

If you would like to submit any questions to the expert in advance of the session please email Isabel.locke@associationofchairs.org.uk by midnight on 9th March.

The session will be held over the online platform, Zoom, enabling you to see the expert and others joining the session face to face. Never used Zoom before? Do not worry! Following sign up we will send you a link to join the video call and instructions on how to use Zoom (e.g. how to check your sound and video are working).
The session will begin with the expert giving a short presentation on a particular topic. There will then be opportunity for you to ask questions, share your own learning and experiences and to hear from others.

This online peer surgery is open to those who are Association of Chairs members or who have registered with the free Beacon Programme. This free programme is aimed at Chairs and Vice Chairs of smaller charities in England with an annual income of under £1 million.
