Our new guide – A Chair’s Compass – launches

A Chair’s CompaChair's Compass cover pagess – a guide for Chairs of charities and non-profit organisations officially launched on October 21st, our first anniversary of registration as a charity, at the Chairs’ Conference that concluded the Lord Mayor’s Charity Leadership Programme, at London’s Mansion House. The guide was made possible by the generous support of City Bridge Trust, the City of London Corporation’s charity, and CCLA.  The 250 attendees showed great interest in the guide and snapped up our copies.  We then held a Yorkshire launch in Leeds on November 4th holding a briefing seminar for 30 charity leaders. A Chair’s Compass has been covered in the sector’s press and received much tweeting and over 1250 downloads already.

Welcoming the guide Charity Commission Chairman William Shawcross said ‘Chairing a charity can be a difficult job, but it is vital and rewarding. This new guide from the Association of Chairs is a welcome source of practical support and advice for those volunteering for this important role.’

Governance expert Lindsay Driscoll said ‘I very much welcome this new guide for chairs. It is practical, concise, accessible and will be an invaluable tool for  both new and experienced chairs of all types and sizes of charity’.
