We are pleased to announce Association of Chairs co-fonder Ruth Lesirge has succeeded John Gladwin in the role of Chair, with trustee John Williams taking the role of Vice Chair.
We would like to thank John Gladwin for guiding the Association from a good idea to a practical reality, with the Association’s formal launch as a registered charity last October.
Ruth Lesirge commented:
“We are hugely grateful to John Gladwin for the wisdom and authority he brought to the founding team over the last three years. We have had a very good first year since our launch, with a strong membership and growing programme of engaging events. I am looking forward to building on what John has led us to achieve.”
New Chair Ruth Lesirge has been a driving force behind the creation of the Association since its inception. She has 35 years’ experience in the public and third sectors, having previously held the Chief Executive role at the Mental Health Foundation and the Retail Trust and is a former Vice Chair of ACEVO. Ruth also served on the ACEVO Governance Commission in 2013.
Vice Chair John Williams has been a trustee since February, and is a co-founder and former Chair of the communications consultancy Fishburn Hedges (now Fishburn). He served as a Charity Commissioner for five years up to 2010, and has extensive trustee and Chair experience. His previous roles include deputy Chair of ChildLine and Chair of the governance think tank Tomorrow’s Company, and he is a long serving board member at Business in the Community.
We are excited to continue our work into this new chapter of leadership and wish Ruth and John well in their new roles.
