lukejohnsoncroppedWe are looking forward to welcoming Luke Johnson to our September supper club.  Affectionately dubbed “Cool Hand Luke,” he is one of the most successful and eclectic business leaders in the UK today: entrepreneur, portfolio Chair and engaging columnist.

Luke Johnson’s business acumen has taken him to the highest ranks of English entrepreneurship. In his early twenties, as he was graduating from Oxford, he was running a number of successful businesses. A decade later he was the chairman of Pizza Express, expanding the chain from 12 restaurants to more than 250 and later starting his own restaurant chain, Strada, which now has nearly 100 locations.

There are very few people who have had more impact than Luke Johnson” on the development of London restaurants in modern history, writes Peter Harden of the Harden’s Restaurant Guide.

Luke Johnson was Chairman of Channel 4 from 2004-2010 and the Royal Society of Arts from 2009-2012. He is currently part owner and chairman of Patisserie Valerie, Gail’s Artisan Bakery and Feng Sushi.  He is also the chairman of the Institute of Cancer Research, Startup Britain, Career Colleges and Bishopsgate Institute.  He is a co-founder of the Centre for Enterpreneurs, and he is also a weekly contributor to the Financial Times.

The event is to be held from 6pm-8pm on Monday September 22, with venue to be confirmed.
